10TH ANNUAL LATINOS UNIDOS CONFERENCE
The Latinos Unidos Conference has been an opportunity for youth to come together and actively make a change. The 10th Annual Latinos Unidos Conference will be hosted at Righetti High School on March 11, 2023 from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The theme this year is "Breaking Barriers, Sí se puede". Students from Righetti, Pioneer Valley, and Santa Maria High School have created workshops to encourage youth to celebrate their culture, pursue high education, and raise awareness around mental health issues in our community. The keynote speaker will be California State Senator Monique Limón. Entertainment will be provided by local mariachi singer, Josué Hernández. It is a free event open to all students in the SMJUHSD district.

BI-WEEKLY THURSDAY MEETINGS
Latinos Unidos dedicates their meetings to educating and uniting their members. During meetings, members are introduced to topics relevant to society and the community like DACA, LGBTQ+ rights, Ethnic & Gender Studies, etc. Each meeting is kept fun and interactive through team-building icebreakers and group discussions. Members are also provided with community service and leadership opportunities. Come and join Latinos Unidos every other Thursday in Room 323!
DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS RALLY
The Día de los Muertos Rally is meant to unite Righetti as a community and share a little about the Latin American tradition of the Day of the Dead. This holiday remembers and honors our deceased loved ones, but also celebrates life. We celebrate this event by having a beautiful performance by Ballet Folklorico and Marimba band. Students and staff can also participate by participating in a class altar decorating contest and by painting their faces. The rally provides a unique experience for all through fun activities and a Latinos Unidos tradition, the Dancing with the Staff competition!

LATINOS UNIDOS SCHOLARSHIP
Through the scholarship, Latinos Unidos desires to promote our cultural pride, accomplishments, and community empowerment. The Latinos Unidos Advisor and Board hope that this opportunity inspires, prepares, and even grants positions to Latinx students to further their interests. This scholarship will share as an advocacy component through the stories shared and provide such a rewarding experience. 'Raíces en mi tierra' is a phrase that holds much power to our culture, we must continue to hold that power to expand the education we receive to better our community.
